Catholic Beliefs
The focus of this unit is on providing a further understanding of Catholic beliefs and how they are expressed in Scripture and Church documents such as the Catechism and the main statement of Catholic belief, the Creed. Personal belief systems are examined as a foundation for an understanding of
what a creed is. Creeds from other traditions are also
explored as part of this understanding. The unit
provides students with an opportunity to investigate
the idea of a religious belief system, to appreciate
how different cultures express their shared beliefs
through the formation of creedal statements and to
see how important the Creed is for Catholic
Faith Story Witness
This unit focuses on developing an understanding of various aspects of the Catholic faith tradition,beginning with the meaning of faith and then presenting an overview of some of the core beliefs associated with our Catholic identity. It also examines “our Catholic story” and what it means to be part of this story. The unit concludes with an examination of discipleship and mission, especially in the context of the Catholic school, and how this is lived and expressed through service, values, worship and prayer.
